THE STAY
History, Intimacy and the Sea
From the moment you arrive, every detail is ready for you — so you can simply be present, whether you seek rest, exploration, or the quiet pleasure of being somewhere beautiful. Beyond the physical spaces, we curate the experience around you: local dining recommendations, cultural itineraries, and the kind of personal guidance that no algorithm can replace.
Outside, a private rooftop terrace offers sweeping views over the rooftops of the Giudecca, the oldest continuously inhabited Jewish quarter in Sicily twin of Venice's Giudecca district. A place to have breakfast, watch the sunset, or simply do nothing at all. The beaches of Spiaggia Diana and Cala Rossa are just 300 steps away.
Inside, the apartment balances historical character with contemporary comfort. Casa Lureca accommodates up to 6 guests across two bedrooms, each with its own private balcony, two bathrooms — one en-suite — and an fully equipped Bulthaup kitchen.
THE SPACES
Intimate Comfort, Thoughtful Details
Casa Lureca unfolds across a series of beautifully composed spaces, each designed with natural textures, soft linens, and a calm aesthetic. Every corner of the home offers a sense of privacy, comfort, and a direct connection to the light and sounds of the Giudecca.
The Two Bedrooms each accommodate up to 3 guests each, with a king-size bed and a Carl Hansen daybed that transforms into an exceptionally comfortable single bed. Both open onto their own private balcony overlooking the historic street Via Del Crocifisso below, and each is paired with its own bathroom — one of them en-suite;
The Bathrooms are a quiet celebration of Italian craft, with full brass finishings, 16th-century stone sinks, and generous shower seats carved from three-hundred-year-old Sicilian marble — details that turn an everyday ritual into a small moment of ceremony;
The Rooftop Terrace, laid with ancient cotto floors, is the heart of the home — a private outdoor space suspended above the rooftops of Ortigia, perfect for breakfast in the morning light, quiet afternoons in the shade, or evenings under the Sicilian sky;
The Kitchen and Dining Area is anchored by an exclusive Bulthaup kitchen and dining table dressed with Carl Hansen chairs — a space designed as much for a long dinner with friends as for a morning espresso in silence;
Every element is filled with natural light and the unmistakable atmosphere of living inside one of the most storied neighbourhoods in the Mediterranean.
the LOCATION
Ortigia, the Giudecca, and the Sea
Casa Lureca sits on a quiet historic street in the heart of the Giudecca, the ancient Jewish quarter of Ortigia and one of the oldest continuously inhabited neighbourhoods in the Mediterranean. Narrow lanes of honey-coloured stone, centuries-old palazzi, artisan workshops, and the occasional glimpse of the sea at the end of an alley — this is a place that rewards slow walking and unhurried mornings.
Just three hundred steps from the door, the clear water of Spiaggia Diana and Cala Rossa offers a morning swim before breakfast, a long afternoon on the rocks, or a sunset dip when the island turns golden. The sea is not a destination here — it is simply part of daily life.
Beyond the immediate neighbourhood, the whole of Ortigia unfolds on foot: the baroque grandeur of Piazza Duomo, the world-famous Ortigia Market, the freshwater spring of Fonte Aretusa with its papyrus growing on the edge of the sea, the temple of Apollo, and the seaward walls of Castello Maniace at the island's southern tip. Small bars for a glass of wine, family-run trattorie, and the unmistakable rhythm of an island that has been lived in for nearly three thousand years. We share our favourite addresses, opening hours, and quiet corners — the kind of guidance that only comes from knowing a place intimately.
